“We had a delightful walking tour with Yannis through Delft historical section. He was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history and buildings representing the city. He arrived on time and at the finish made plans for our transport to the Royal Delft museum and factory tour.”
Delft, followed by Royal Delft
This tour combines the classic walking tour of Delft with a visit to Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles), the last remaining 17th-century Delftware factory in the Netherlands. Your guide walks you through the Markt, the historic churches and the canals, then a tuktuk (or a bus outside the tuktuk season) takes you to the factory for a self-guided visit with an audio guide, and brings you back to the city centre afterwards.
At Royal Delft, explore the museum galleries, see antique Delftware and the Night Watch tile mural, and watch artisans hand-paint Delft Blue pottery in the painting workshop. Prefer an expert to show you around the museum itself? A guided museum tour can be added for a flat €100, instead of the included self-guided audio-guide visit.

What our guests say
“On a girlfriend’s trip to see the tulips, we took a day trip to from Amsterdam to have a tour of Delft. What a great day! Was easy to meet our tour guide, Mia, at Markt Square by walking from the train station. Mia, a student at U. Of Delft, was a wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable, informative and her love of Delft was infectious!! Showed us all the main sites, gave great recommendations on shops and eating places. So lovely. We were surprised when she told us at the end that we were among her first tours!! She’s a gem in a beautiful city!”
“We are happy that we have spent a day in Delft yesterday. Our guide truly made the history of Delft come to live, and the Royal Delft Museum was fantastic. We will definitely come back if we're in the area again.”

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this tour and Highlights of Delft?
Highlights of Delft (€160 per group, 2 hours) is the walking tour of the city centre only. This tour is the same walking tour, plus a visit to the Royal Delft factory, where you see the museum and the painting workshop with an audio guide (from €209). Choose this one if seeing the Delft Blue actually being painted by hand matters to you.
Is this tour also good if I'm interested in Vermeer?
This tour covers Delft’s history in general terms, and does not focus specifically on Vermeer. If Vermeer is the reason you are visiting, Vermeer’s Delft (from €275, 2.5 to 3 hours) follows his life through the city and includes the Vermeer Centre, and is the better fit.
Should I book this tour or the self-guided audio tour?
The Delft audio tour (€10.49) covers the city walking route but does not include a visit to Royal Delft. It also cannot answer a question or adapt to what your group finds interesting. If seeing Delft Blue pottery being made by hand is part of what you want to see, book this tour instead.
Is the Royal Delft transfer really included both ways?
Yes. A tuktuk (or a bus outside the tuktuk season) takes your group from the city centre to Royal Delft after the walking tour, and brings you back again once you are done, at no extra cost.
Can I add a guided tour inside the Royal Delft museum?
Yes. The tour includes a self-guided visit with an audio guide, but you can upgrade to a guided tour inside the museum itself for a flat €100, the same flat per-group rate as our regular guides, covering your whole group up to the maximum of 20 people, not per person. Add it as a comment when you book, or contact us directly.
Do I need to book my private tour in advance?
The earlier you book, the better. Online bookings close 24 hours before departure. For last minute tours in Delft, Rotterdam, The Hague, Leiden or Gouda, call or WhatsApp us at +31 6 46 52 69 11.
Can my tour start at a different time than the ones listed?
Yes. We offer flexible start times for all private walking tours. Add your preferred time in the booking comments or contact us directly and we will adjust the schedule for you.
Can I change the meeting point of my tour?
Yes. As long as it is within the city center, you can choose your own meeting point. If you prefer to begin at your hotel, a restaurant or another central location, simply add it as a comment during your booking and we will make sure our guide meets you there.
Can I be picked up and dropped off in another city?
Yes. We offer paid pick-up and drop-off within roughly 100 km (62 mi) from the tour location, added at checkout (Amsterdam always falls within that range). For longer distances, please contact us for a quote.
In which languages are the tours available?
We offer our tours in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
What is the group size for a private tour?
You book the guide for your group only, we do not combine you with other travelers. For the best experience, we advise a maximum of 20 participants per guide.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel your private tour free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Delft’s historic centre has cobblestones, narrow pavements and a few steps at certain stops, so it is not fully wheelchair accessible the way a modern building would be. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book, and your guide will plan the route and pace around them as much as the city allows.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes. Every tour is private, so your guide can adjust the pace, the stories and the length to suit children in your group. Just mention their ages when you book.
Can I bring my dog on the tour?
Let us know when you book if you’d like to bring a dog along, and we’ll confirm what’s possible for that particular tour.
How will I recognize my guide at the meeting point?
About a week before your tour, we’ll send you a reminder email with your guide’s name and phone number, along with the meeting point and time. If you don’t spot each other right away, just call or message them.
Do you take large or school groups?
Yes. For larger groups we split you across multiple guides rather than combining you with strangers or putting everyone on one bus, so it stays personal and everyone can still hear and ask questions. Tell us your group size and we’ll arrange it.
