“We did a delft tour in the footsteps of vemeer with door to door service from our hotel from Amsterdam. Monika was excellent. We learned a lot about Delft and would Highly recommend this tour. I’d love to do an other tour someday to this area and would consider this tour company. We were there 4 hours which was plenty, there were 4 in our group. We also visited the new and old churches, vermeer’s burial site, & a local pottery shop where they still make the china by hand.”

“We loved our private tour in Delft that focused on Vermeer! Our tour guide, Roos, was lovely and very knowledgeable about Vermeer. Roos studied art and is a painter. She also knows her history! Please do not hesitate to book! You also receive an entrance ticket to the Vermeer Centrum. Tomorrow we will see the actual Girl With the Pearl Earring in The Hague.”

“We loved this tour. My wife and I have been great admirers of Vermeer's work for over a decade now, and this tour has really felt like we stepped into the life of the artist. Vermeer has only become more intriguing to us.”

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this tour and Highlights of Delft?

Highlights of Delft (€160 per group, 2 hours) covers the whole city in general terms, including a brief mention of Vermeer. This tour is longer (2.5 to 3 hours, from €275), focused specifically on Vermeer’s life and work, and includes admission to the Vermeer Centre with an audio guide. Choose this one if Vermeer is the main reason you are visiting Delft.

What is the difference between this tour and Delft & Royal Delft?

Delft & Royal Delft (from €209) combines the general city tour with a visit to the Royal Delft pottery factory. This tour is about Vermeer specifically, not Delft Blue pottery. If you want both, get in touch and we can put together a custom combination.

Should I book this tour or the self-guided audio tour?

The Delft audio tour (€10.49) covers the city in general and does not focus on Vermeer specifically. It cannot answer a question or adapt to what your group finds interesting. If Vermeer is the reason you are here, book this private tour instead.

Do I need to book my private tour in advance?

The earlier you book, the better. Online bookings close 24 hours before departure. For last minute tours in Delft, Rotterdam, The Hague, Leiden or Gouda, call or WhatsApp us at +31 6 46 52 69 11.

Can my tour start at a different time than the ones listed?

Yes. We offer flexible start times for all private walking tours. Add your preferred time in the booking comments or contact us directly and we will adjust the schedule for you.

Can I change the meeting point of my tour?

Yes. As long as it is within the city center, you can choose your own meeting point. If you prefer to begin at your hotel, a restaurant or another central location, simply add it as a comment during your booking and we will make sure our guide meets you there.

Can I be picked up and dropped off in another city?

Yes. We offer paid pick-up and drop-off within roughly 100 km (62 mi) from the tour location, added at checkout (Amsterdam always falls within that range). For longer distances, please contact us for a quote.

In which languages are the tours available?

We offer our tours in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

What is the group size for a private tour?

You book the guide for your group only, we do not combine you with other travelers. For the best experience, we advise a maximum of 20 participants per guide.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel your private tour free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

Delft’s historic centre has cobblestones, narrow pavements and a few steps at certain stops, so it is not fully wheelchair accessible the way a modern building would be. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book, and your guide will plan the route and pace around them as much as the city allows.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes. Every tour is private, so your guide can adjust the pace, the stories and the length to suit children in your group. Just mention their ages when you book.

Can I bring my dog on the tour?

Let us know when you book if you’d like to bring a dog along, and we’ll confirm what’s possible for that particular tour.

How will I recognize my guide at the meeting point?

About a week before your tour, we’ll send you a reminder email with your guide’s name and phone number, along with the meeting point and time. If you don’t spot each other right away, just call or message them.

Do you take large or school groups?

Yes. For larger groups we split you across multiple guides rather than combining you with strangers or putting everyone on one bus, so it stays personal and everyone can still hear and ask questions. Tell us your group size and we’ll arrange it.
